This past weekend, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting the official post-dinner event for the prestigious TEDxDurhamUniversity 2026, and what an unforgettable evening it was.
Held on Saturday 2nd May 2026 at Redhills Miners Hall, TEDx Durham University brought together an inspiring mix of thinkers, innovators and changemakers for an afternoon of powerful talks and fresh ideas. Following such a remarkable event, we were incredibly proud to welcome guests to continue the experience with us at 40 Winks.
Transforming our space for a special occasion
To ensure the evening felt just as special as the event itself, we completely reimagined our space. Our room was thoughtfully redecorated and rearranged to comfortably host all 27 guests together, creating a warm, intimate setting where conversations could flow and connections could deepen.
The result was a beautifully cohesive environment where everyone could sit together, unwind, and reflect on the ideas and inspiration from the day.
A night to remember
The atmosphere throughout the evening was nothing short of magical. Guests arrived energised and inspired, and it was a joy to see discussions continue late into the night, exactly what events like TEDx are all about, ideas worth spreading, and conversations that matter.
At 40 Winks Hospitality, we pride ourselves on creating spaces where people feel at ease, and it was an honour to play a small part in such a significant and thought-provoking event.

The evening was made even more special as our wonderful General Manager, George, was recognised with an award for his outstanding hospitality and the incredible work he put into organising and running this dinner.
This recognition was so well deserved. George’s attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine passion for creating exceptional guest experiences shone through every moment of the evening, and we couldn’t be prouder.
